Community empowerment socials encourage and create a supportive environment for people to step into the FAccT community. Community empowerment socials are meant to promote diversity and inclusion. They establish research communities out of community empowerment groups and raise awareness of the challenges faced by their members. Furthermore, they provide safe, inclusive spaces for members of community empowerment groups to socialize and network.

Time: June 5, UTC-3 7:30pm - 11:00pm
In-person location: This intimate gathering is being held at a local community organizing space with finite capacity, and we will be communicating the location directly to all participants.
”AI” takes the form of global pipelines driving extraction of lands and exploitation of peoples. These AI pipelines are perpetuating and expanding the historical and living legacy of colonialism. Meanwhile, the AI enterprise obfuscates this extraction of labor, metals, water and land to drive compute power, build hardware / wider physical infrastructure, and exert mechanized surveillance and control. Simultaneously, there are powerful communities of resistance.
This convening brings together people who understand it as our responsibility and praxis to conspire in the work struggling against and transforming technology-based extractivism, in any of its many forms. If this describes you, we welcome you with full hearts; please email us at decolonial.ai.network [at] gmail.com and we will make sure there is a seat/spot waiting for you. We will together nurture relational solidarity, clarify strategies, and build networks of resistance.
Please note that this intimate gathering is being held at a local community organizing space with finite capacity, and we will be communicating the location directly to all participants.
